Dance Styles

Structure of our contemporary classes :

At ADC, we have a blend of Contemporary and Mayurbhanj Chhau.

Release Technique focuses on using momentum, dynamic gravity and release to develop ease of moment. It is focused on ease of “movement” and “fluidity”. Dancers learn to minimise tension in the body to create freedom of movement. The release of body weight into the floor and the use of breath to instigate movement is part of the learning process.

Contact Improvisation Technique, wherein the remain in physical touch, mutually supportive and innovative, meditating upon the physical laws relating to their masses: gravity, momentum, inertia and friction. They do not strive to achieve results but rather, to meet the constantly changing physical reality with appropriate placement and energy.

Flying Low Technique utilises simple movement patterns that involve breathing patterns, speed and release of energy throughout the body in order to activate the relationship between the centre and moving in and out of the ground more efficiently by maintaining centred state.
